Countdown to Spring
Let’s Get Digging!

Although SPRING has not officially sprung the Mister and I have been itching to get our kitchen garden project started here at the new farmhouse. We’ve been planning this project for months and a break in the weather gave us the green light.
This project began by going to our local @homedepot to buy supplies for the raised container garden beds. We purchased 8 feet x 10-inch, boards. We then cut them down to four feet by eight feet, as shown below. We found this to be the most cost-effective way for a raised bed garden.

We then went to our local nursery and purchased topsoil to fill the container beds. Before we filled them, we purchased a weed block fabric from Sam’s club and lined the bottom of the container bed with this material. Before adding our topsoil to the container, we added some of our aged manure, leaves, and old grass clippings to make it just the perfect mix for planting.

Due to the fact that we are weekend warriors this project is still under construction which will resume this weekend. Stay tuned to the blog for more updates and information on this space.
