The Maple Creek story...
The first thing you should know about us: our hearts are in Texas, but right now our boots are planted firmly in New York! Since the summer of 2007, we have lived on our little white farm with cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, cats, dogs and even (at one time) horses, rabbits and turkeys. We refer to it affectionately as "the hobby farm." Our kids have loved growing up somewhere where they could run and play!
As former suburban residents from the south, moving in the land of ice and snow was a big change for us - a BIG change. But over the years God has been so faithful, and it's been a joy to use our home & farm to minister to those around us. And now, we get to share it with YOU!
Maple Creek is not just a design page, or brand, or blog - it's a family. Picture a huge wooden dinner table in the backyard, on that perfect mid-summer night. The glow of stars and contentment. That's the dream. It's a place where we can all gather around, get to know one another, share tips & tricks, and cheer each other on. Not just in design-related ventures, but in life.
...So, welcome to our story. We're so glad you've decided to come along for the ride!
Meet The Family...
I grew up as the youngest of four children, and now have four kiddos of my own: three boys, one girl. My first job was in seventh grade - which is probably why I can never sit still! After graduating from Penn State, I headed down south to teach second grade. I met my hubby one Sunday morning when we were both late to church. So glad I was late that day! Seven months later he drew a line in the sand at the Alamo, and asked me to marry him. Twenty-three years later and he's still the love of my life and my best friend!
Over the year I've continued to teach here and there - after the kids are all out on their own, I'd love to return to the classroom full-time. Like I said, I love to stay busy! I've been designing comfortable, vintage spaces in my home and others, in addition to staging wedding receptions. I love vintage, farmhouse, French country chic.
It's been so fun to share all my DIY projects and design adventures through Instagram, and now this space, for the past three years! My hope is that you will leave here inspired, blessed, and equipped to make your home cozy and budget-friendly beautiful.
